“As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.”  Memories, Dreams, Reflections 1962 - C.G. Jung

MaryAnn is committed to “meeting the client where they are” (emotionally and psychologically) in their pain and healing process.  Incorporating any spiritual issues into therapy is done strictly at the client’s request. She welcomes people of all faith traditions and those with no religious preference.  MaryAnn is an LGBTQ ally.

Finding and making meaning out of our lives is one of the most pervasive existential challenges for us all.  She enjoys journeying with clients who are on this path.  Often spiritual and mental health boundaries intersect in our lives, and so, MaryAnn’s extensive credentials allow her to assist clients in these multi-faceted areas.

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart.  Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”  C.G. Jung

Following one of the practices of Jung, dream work is often incorporated into the therapy.  Clients find this work stimulating and freeing, to be able to explore their inner life of dreams and what the dream is trying to communicate to the dreamer.  To make the unconscious, conscious was one of Jung’s major goals, allowing us to be “in touch,” healthier, and more aware of our inner drives that effect decision-making in the real world.  However, Jung also says that “there is no coming to consciousness without pain.”  MaryAnn, a consumer and advocate of personal psychotherapy, is aware that this inner path to healing is sometimes difficult and often painful.  Patience, compassion, and deep caring are important for this journey.  MaryAnn often reminds clients: “Therapy is a process, not an event.”  It takes time, caring, compassion, gentleness, insight, mercy, and bravery.
